According to the great modern-day Hypnotherapist and Psychiatrist, Milton H. Erickson, the reason most people come for therapy is because at the very basic level, “they are out of rapport with their unconscious mind….” He believed that the job of the therapist is to help the client re-establish his/her connection with his/her inner resources and to develop a rapport between the conscious and the unconscious mind. He also said that people are not their behaviours and everyone is doing the best they can with the resources available to them at that point in time. All learning, behaviour and change happens on the unconscious level and in therapy, this is what we do – we talk to the client’s unconscious mind.

Problems and Issues Treated
Self confidence and self esteem: Lack of self confidence or self belief and low self esteem is one of the most common problems that many people have. It is a negative state of mind and can hold people back from achieving their goals or fulfilling their full potential. Causes of low confidence vary and can be due to events in childhood or adulthood. NLP, Time Line Therapy™ and Hypnosis are highly effective in increasing a person’s confidence levels.
Phobias: A phobia is an intense, irrational reaction of fear to specific external events, objects, people or situations that cause a person to not function in a normal manner. They are sometimes so severe that they can add huge restrictions in a person’s life. The term ‘Phobia’ is derived from the Greek word, fovia, which means ‘extreme fear’. There are some extremely powerful NLP techniques that will rid the person of their phobia and help them to live a more normal life.
Stop Smoking: Smoking is a very unhealthy habit to indulge in that can lead to a whole host of physical ailments and illnesses in later life. Through hypnotherapy and NLP, the smoker will learn to be a ‘non-smoker’ and will learn new behaviours that will result in them no longer feeling a need to reach out for a cigarette.
Weight Loss:Excess weight gain is not just because of overeating or a slow metabolism. It can also be as a result of deeper emotional issues that NLP therapy can allow the client to get rid of emotional baggage and then working on weight loss itself.
Limiting beliefs: Limiting beliefs are exactly what they are described as = limiting. This can be a belief about yourself that holds you back in life, e.g. I don’t feel I’m good enough, I’m not good with money, I’m a failure etc. This negative self-talk creates a vicious circle because the more we re-emphasise this limiting belief, the more it becomes an ingrained habit and affects our behaviour and belief system. A limiting belief has almost certainly been preceded by a limiting decision which is most often unconscious, something that we are not aware of. This negative attitude holds people back and through Time Line Therapy™ and NLP, these negative beliefs can be deleted and new positive beliefs are created so to help people move forwards with their lives and to achieve success.
Stress: In today’s modern world where many of us are caught up in the rat race, with stress at work and constant bombardment of negative news in the media, it’s no wonder that many of us may suffer from stress at some point in our lives or on an ongoing basis. It’s been proven that a high percentage of physical illnesses and ailments are caused by stress and a build up of negative emotions which if not released through therapy, can accumulate in the body and cause physical and emotional problems later in life. This is known as the mind-body connection. Through Time Line Therapy™, Hypnotherapy and/or Reiki, optimum relaxation can be achieved that will be of tremendous benefit to the person.
Relationship problems:Many of us have experience relationship problems at some point in our lives, whether it’s with a partner, business colleague or boss, friends or family. Depression: Most of us at some point in our lives will have experienced feelings of sadness, despair and despondency. However, some people can experience depression more frequently and with more severity that can seriously interfere with the quality of their life. Anxiety: Anxiety is a feeling of dread and fear that can cause physical symptoms such as rapid heart beat, sweaty palms, light-headedness and sickness. It’s an unpleasant feeling that is totally counterproductive and bad for our emotional and physical health. Severe anxiety releases stress hormones into our bloodstream that can lead to high-blood pressure, cardio-vascular problems and a whole host of other problems. Anxiety is simply a warning from the unconscious mind to ‘focus on what you want’.
